Australian Superhornet Facilities
When the Australian Government decided to acquire 24 F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft new and refurbished facilities were required to accomdate and maintain the fleet. Faux Finishes were selected as painting contractor for the project.
The program of works included:
- No 1 Squadron Hangar and Headquarters (New)
- Intermediate Level Maintenance building (New)
- Simulator building (New)
- Ground Support Equipment Shelter (GSE)/ External Fuel Tank Shelter (EFT)/ Aircraft Washbay (New)
- Gunnery and Ejection Seat Workshop Extension (New)
- No 6 Squadron Hangar, Headquarters and ASTFIT Workshop (Refurb)
- Maintenance Training (Refurb)
- Aircraft Shelters (Refurb)
- Engine Run-Up and Test (Refurb)
- General Purpose and AGM142E Warehouses(Refurb)
- No 82 Wing Headquarters (Refurb)
Defence Logistic Transformation Program
The current Joint Logistics Unit (South Queensland) wholesale facilities within the Brisbane area are split across three sites, those being Bulimba, Meeandah and RAAF Base Amberley. The planned infrastructure works will enable the Joint Logistics Unit (South Queensland) to vacate Bulimba and Meeandah, and consolidate its overall storage and maintenance footprint to a greenfield site at RAAF Base Amberley. Following from its previous work at RAAF Amberley Faux Finishes has again been selected to complete the painting on this project. This project is expected to be completed in early 2015.
The program of works includes:
- an office building for the headquarters staff
- a general storage warehouse and cargo consolidation point
- a warehouse for loan and repair pool equipment
- a workshop for the maintenance of vehicles and other equipment
- a secure storage and maintenance facility
- a dangerous goods storage facility
- pavement and shelters for the storage of vehicles and other equipment
- in-ground engineering services, roads and perimeter fencing to support the above works
