BHP Billiton’s Groote Eylandt Manganese Company (GEMCO) extracts high-grade manganese ore that accounts for 15 percent of the world’s production. Faux Finishes was engaged to strip, reseal and the repaint the top of the fuel tanks in the tank farm the supports the mine and local community. Storing highly volatile fuels, including ULP, meant Faux Finishes’ intrinsically safe work methods and tools was able to complete these works without risk to people and property, whilst tanks remained filled.
